IMHO a reputable supplier selling decent stuff (not super cheapo - let's hope for the best) is the key.

Stuff goes wrong, it happens.

It's what happens next that's the important bit.

I'm still using my now not so local motor factor that I've been with for coming up for 30 years.

Never any issues, decent prices and talking to people who actually know their onions - or even car parts.

What would make me change? Maybe "our" traders because of the specialist knowledge/parts but otherwise........

Still very sad to hear of premature failures on supposedly quality stuff.

Andy.

I think these drop link woes are going to be ongoing. You will have to keep us upto date on how the Meyle ones perform. It seems as though there is no pride now in what is produced for the auto industry.

There's apparently alot of "fake" stuff floating about the auction sites. Mintex brake pads being a hot name to knock off.

I've got Delphi lower arms and drop links on my ZR which has been used on road and track (so a harsh life) and they've been solid for years. Only recently I've swapped out the lower arm bush for polybush for handling. The bush that came out was still in top condition

I agree. My first set of Delphi droplinks lasted 4 years and over 46k miles. The second set has now done around £20k miles.

It's important to buy a well known brand e.g. Deplhi, form a reputable supplier.

Was it an oversight not to thank the courier or did Matt deliver personally?

I find this drop link situation one of the most annoying things ever.

It is not like this is some highly technical piece.

Here are my NEW rears after 6 months on the car, thats including 3 months of GREAT weather recently. This is worse than the 14 year old ones I took off! :-

Does anyone know a mod which makes the front ones easier to change - the top fixings can be a pain. When I renewed mine, I shortened the threaded section, for better access with a spanner, but despite a modified (bent) spanner, it's still fiddly. Poor design.

You are meant to use an open spanner on the nut, and turn the drop link!

I use a crow-foot spanner to do this, it even says this in RAVE I believe.
