MOT failure
Hi Guys,
Both rear springs are broken so failed MOT. Hopefully will be fixed next week. One problem not a failure but the strap for the fuel tank needs replacing. Anyone know where I could get one? regards to you all Deskjet990 |

Front Exhaust broken when fitting tank strap!
Hi Guys,
In a bit of trouble now, while the garage was fitting the tank strap they broke the front exhaust flexi bit and cannot find a supplier to replace it. Any ideas of a stockist? Deskjet990 |

Thank you for the info. Garage has just phoned me to say that they had located a local repair guy that will add the flexi section as you suggest.
Kindest regards and thank you |

Jobs all done
Hi
The repaired flexi turned out an excellent repair, he charged £65 which i thought was OK. MOT all passed now, both rear springs. Ok for another 12 months, also got a refund on insurance because of very low mileage this last year! Kindest regards to all |

Nice to hear you got sorted out, but surely a bit disappointing that you had to pay for someone else's fault they broke the flexi so they should have paid to repair it, common courtesy and good will gesture springs to mind. Did you question it or not ?

quite correct.should have been supported whilst working on the strap. you have to drop it down for access but not to stress it by being too low. if it slipped off the support or tie up method thats hardly your fault. ...

Flexi repair
Hi Guys,
In fairness to the garage, at the first MOT the Flexi pipe was "an advisory" item. So would probably only need a little disturbance and it would break. At least they went to the trouble of trying to fix it and obviously the first time replacing a tank strap on a Rover 75. They now have found someone local that only repairs these flexi breakages, common to alot of cars. There is quite a big gap in mechanic's skills these days as the old skills are not taught anymore! I am happy now the car is fixed. Kindest regards to all |
