Even after you do your first oil change, you wont really get your confidence until the next one is due. It is only when you drain the oil, and see all the oil you put in the first time drain out, on that second oil change when you realise, 'it really was that easy!!' lol

It is easy when you know how and have the kit to do it with. The £11 labour sounds like a bargain to me. I know that some of the national quick fit (see what I did there?) places have "trained" spotty yoofs doing the job but as said, there isn't a lot of skill to an oil and filter change. I watched my local "kwikfitter" doing the job for me when my back was playing up a couple of years ago and he did an excellent job, even wiping everything clean when he finished and commenting on my "nice" car.

Seems like a very keen price, but whenever I've gone for one of these deals (or a cheap MOT) there's always been a lot of 'necessary work' mentioned and quoted for, usually at rather scary prices.

If anyone does fancy having a bash at servicing, my 75/ZT Servicing Kits start at £11.99. Service Kits - All

On a final note, DIY servicing gives you a chance to do those 75/ZT jobs we're regularly reminded - clear plenums, check coolant levels etc.

Some great deals there. I had been looking at parts on a place called Rimmers and they were way more expensive!

Just to buck the trend - I've done much bigger jobs on my car and I service all of it (e.g. fuel filter, air filter etc) myself.

I don't do oil changes because my local garage is barely any more than I can get the oil + filter for. Plus, they can do it much quicker (undertray + axle stands = nightmare, undertray + ramp = easy) and most importantly - they dispose of the oil (the nearest oil disposal place is about 15 miles from my house). Overall - I'd say it's worth it (for me). I could do it - but there just isn't a big advantage in my case.
