Erm Hacksaw is the only way I know if cables have already corroded through.
I wrote a HOWTO saw through the bonnet pins without damaging bumper or bonnet last year if some retired member can find it?!
I'm busy in workshop till about Midnight tonight.

Newbies do now!!
1. Plenum drains..all 3 or 4 year dependent
2. Cooling fan..All speeds functioning
3. Bonnet cable divider block

Bit more info here.
But basically you need a new hacksaw blade and masking tape to protect paintwork

Why is this such a big secret when you can find the answer doing a simple google search?

As I do not want to upset anyone I won't post the link, but surely no one will steal a car by opening the bonnet.

No big secret at all Herman, just the fact that we do not publish the information publicly on our boards.

I think you'll find that other MG-Rover fora handle this information in a similar way.
