Talking Changing Alpine Low-Line in High-Line SATNAV

Hello everyone,

I'm new on this forum and I live in Holland. Excelent forum by the way! I'm driving a Rover 75 1.8 with a G3 LPG fuel installation in the space of the spare wheel. The car is from 2001.

Here's my problem (is there a new member who has none?):

I have an integrated Alpine Low-Line satellite navigation with radio/cassette. Some while ago, my GPS unit failed and the garage couldn't fix it. I recently bought a High-Line SATNAV from Alpine YIE000310PUY. I was very supprised when I discovered that the connectors behind from each model were not the same!

Does anybody knows then answers on the following:
- Are there existing adaptors for the connectors?
- If I want to buy another GPS, do I have to check wich type is right for the High-Line?
- Or do I have to change the whole wiring loom?
- I've read something about a silver box wich you need to let the High-Line work. Is this true?
- The existing CD changer came with the original Low-Line SATNAV. Does it still work on the High-Line?
- One of the options of a High Line SATNAV is receiving TV. I don't need that because in Holland there is no existing analoge signal anymore in the air. Everything is digital now.

......Where I'm afraid for, was it foolish to buy only the High-Line unit?

Hope to her from you soon.

Hello Ralph

Glad to have you on board.

One or more of our ICE experts will be along to help you out. If you don't get good response here I will move your post into the ICE section later on.

I polite bump

I think most of the lo-line bits are transferable to the HighLine set-up.

I'm not sure if the TV tuner is needed to display the SatNav data or if that is dealt with by the Nav Computer itself. I know several members on here have upgraded to the HighLine system so hopefully someone will see this thread and give you some solid answers.

You will need the TV Tuner for the Display to work, which means more than likely the requirement of different Loom.

Head Unit
Sat Nav Computer
TV Tuner Unit
Aerial & Wiring Loom
You can get Digital TV Receivers Now
Aerial Amplifier

Ive Just remembered the Post for all this, Read Here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=2892

Its a question I asked Navtvman on eBay. Basically to upgrade from lo to hi line its like starting from scratch. All the bits and a new loom is required.

Hello JohnDotCom,

I asked around and a company in Holland (Wheels Online), who has a lot of experience with retrofitting the low to high line, told me that the TV module is not needed for navigation. I don't need television in Holland, because there is no analog signal here anymore. So I'll keep that TV module to the last to buy and test the whole system first without it. I'll keep you informed in this thread.

Regards, Ralph

Talking Finally the Radio and TV-module

Hello guys,

I finally got the two missing modules I need for this retrofit as shown below. maybe for some of you a lot of money, but I thougt it was a reasonable price on e-bay incl shipping to Holland:

- BMW E39 - E46 - E38 - X5 Autoradio BM24 TMC £141.93

- BMW Videomodul TV modul E46 E39 X3 X5 M3 M5 £140.00

Now I'm waiting till that cable loom has finished.

Does anyone has the brackets for these two?

Keep you informed, Regards Ralph

Have not got any of the Brackets, but will look on EPC when I get home tonight see if they are still available, as a couple of Members are after them.
