Hi,
just bought an 05' Rover 75 Saloon, Connoisseur edition, 2.0 CDTi, 131ps, 90K on the clock, hoping it's going to last a few years. Best regards, Bigtaff |

Hi, it was good old Google that got me here, I've just bought an 03 plate 75, and am finding the 2.5 v6 a bit thirsty compared to my previous drive, but I've never been so comfortable in a car. He's been a bit neglected so full fluid change (oil, auto transmission etc) is the first step, then need to sort a couple of stone chips that have surface rust forming. With only 60,000 on the clock, I'm hoping a bit of TLC will see him good for a long time yet.

Hi Mark & welcome!
What was your previous drive? Jules PS Check your radiator cooling fan works on all speeds? Your mileage is just about when they fail

Seat Leon Mk1 TDI 130. It had quicker steering and was less thirsty, but was a bit rough over bumpy surfaces and not nearly as well engineered. I've wanted a Rover 75 for a while, and since the Seat needed about £1200 quid of work and was worth £400, I decided it was time to find one. (I wanted 6 cylinders as well - they seem to be a dying breed)

My new Purchase
I have been aware of the Rover 75 for some time and often fancied one. I have owned many "sensible" cars over the years but now i'm retired I can follow my heart and not my head. So, I've been looking for a big lazy automatic for a while now and spotted a Rover 75, 2.5 V6 Connoisseur at a local garage. It had been on sale for a while and had been reduced right down to a very affordable price. I sat in it, looked it over, started it and 10 minutes later it was mine.
I've owned it for about a month now, it has cost me two tyres and an air-con top up and is an absolute joy to drive. Still to fix is the sat-nav and rear blind, neither of which are particularly important but I work on the "if it's fitted it should work" philosophy. There car is a 2002 model in gold with 99000 miles on the clock. Oh! and my other car is a 1972 Mark 3 Cortina, so I haven't always been sensible! |
