Default Heater

I'm not happy with the heater. It works fine don't get me wrong but it's not hot enough in this cold weather. Is there any way to make it hotter?

Yes, a piece of cardboard blocking some of the cooling air into the engine room/radiator. Place in front of part of the radiator.

Check the coolant temperature Al using the instrument pack diagnostics and, if necessary, fit an in-line thermostat to the top hose.

This was a routine winter practice back in my Morris Minor days
Posh people could even buy a leather-look radiator blind with opening panels !

Had an SD1 Vitesse as my daily driver summer and winter, and Swedish winters then were really cold. Had cardboard in front of the radiator, removed the viscous fan, fitted a 92 deg thermostat - nothing really helped except higher revs. At 2400 revs the car was at the legal limit in 5th gear, but a spell of driving in 3rd gear would bring some heat into the car - or rather warmth.

Don’t know diesels - is there a higher rated thermostat you could fit? Or try driving a while in a lower gear - or buy a V6, mine doesn’t seem to care what the outside temperature is.

Regards

If you have a cold heater then you have an issue somewhere, either a partially open thermostat, an airlock or a blocked heater matrix.

The cars heater should be toasty whatever the weather outside.

Yes....toasty warm, but only after 10 miles!! 😳
My 2018 L200 is even worse to warm up, when left idling from startup!

the heater is working fine. I just want a way of getting the car hotter in this winter we are having.

Select 'HI' on the temperature control panel. If that doesn't satisfy, see my reply at post number 3.
