Price is right for Chinese MGs
Chinese firm Nanjing Automobile has revealed prices for its new version of the Rover 75 saloon, the MG7 for the UK.
They start at £11,400 for entry model 1.8 litre turbo comfort model. The Luxury model is £12,360 while the Luxury Sports Model will be £13,500. The long Wheelbase 2.5 litre V6 Flagship will set buyers back £20,000. They are now on Sale in China and the British Version will be on sale from Dec/Jan 2008. It also, wait for it gained 5 Stars on the latest Crash Test awards! There is also a MG3, and a MG5 due for launch, but I have no details on these. The MG TF has just started (today) to come off Production line at Longbridge Plant also, so things are finally starting to move. Information from News EMail from Auto Express Magazine today. Good news all round. Parts for our cars and possibly even an increase in second hand values.

Really pleased also GG.
They say also that a Diesel Version 160BHP is due June 2008. What lump are they using for that I ask myself? |

I would really hope for one so I can get one when mine finally reaches the end of the road, but no sign (publicly) at the moment of one I'm afraid.

well I suppose that's bad news, but actually good news for all of us Tourerettes as the Tourer will thus be the only one to really mount the carpeted stairs of classicdom...

So, what are the spec levels likely to be like? Is it going to be built over here? What became of the saic tie up?

Not be able to source the Specs as yet and they were not on the Press Release sent.
It will also be built over here (no date given). I heard (not confirmed) the "joint" venture was to go ahead, but all quiet. I don't speak Chinese and the Translations of their sites are Awful! |

Interesting news that the MG TFs are starting to actually come off the production line at Longbridge.
Wonder where they heard that? Chris

However, the parts thing is reassuring (providing parts interchangeablity is there) and also the gratifying thought of speacialist dealers. Sad there won't be a tourer though. It would be nice to think I could get a brand-new (and updated) version of my car in 3 years time for under 20k. My plan at the moment is to wait 3 years (maybe get a promotion in that time) and replace the ZTT with something German in estate-form. If there's an MG7 tourer in 3 years, I might re-think slightly. |
