Default Pencil Coil Conversion-V6?

Here's a question, Is it possible to convert a car (Mine is a ZT190) with the early style coils (3 pencil, 3 short) to the later style 6 pencil coils?
I would like to change to the later Beru coils and get rid of the HT wires.
I have a late Freelander engine harness that I could strip the coil wiring out of.
Would it be as simple as pulling the existing pins out of the ECU connector and plugging the pins from the new harness or are there more substantial mods needed?

I have a feeling that the ZCS codes need changing.
Brian/Phil/Others may be able to confirm.
Regards
Chris

I think you're right. Phil-T4 found that one of my early ZT-Ts was coded for the later style coils. This seemed to show a slight misfire on the real time T4 display. Phil corrected the issue.

Engine ECU firmware needs changing as the "charge" time for the coil packs vs pencil coils are different.
Easiest way is to change the ZCS coding and use a T4 to download new firmware and tune data to the ECU.

Oh and another thing, you will need camshaft covers that have the extra moulding and tapping for the pencil coil retaining bolts.

Trikey, The good prices on pencil coils is one of the things that got me thinking about changing

Thanks Phil.
That's good information. There are plenty of dead and dying Freelanders here so cam covers would be easy to come by.
I suspected that there may be some T4 stuff involved.
Unfortunately there aren't any T4s around here so that little project will have to go on the back burner-Rats!
