I don't think there's anything behind the liner stud - it just disappears into the 'girder' thing I mentioned earlier. All the fuel lines in that area are visible and there's nothing else I can think of that might be lurking in the girder. The rivet fixings should also work for the 3 sheared off fuel line cover studs. This pic shows all 4 stud positions arrowed red. I just need to drill them out - which will probably be a lot harder than it sounds. Last edited by Blink; 19th August 2019 at 12:00.. Reason: typo |

Other end of tunnel
Where does this tunnel go?
It obviously carries the fuel lines towards the engine but I don't know where the other end is. (Prone to rust at this end). |

I'll clean it up and add sealant - or maybe expanded foam. |

I discovered yesterday that the "other thing" is a threaded stud encased in a protective plastic sheath, which is probably an anti-rust device!

I took the LH liner off yesterday but this time I bought a Dremel first, then I used it to cut off the rusted/exposed ends of the threads. It's a piece of cake this way and the liner was off in less than 10 minutes, although my Dremel skills weren't good enough to avoid messing up the plastic nuts!

As Steve said, nothing stops water running down the tube as I found out when I had the seat up to fit a new in tank pump. The pipe had gone rotten, and crumbled in my hand. Luckily no damage had be done other than the tube.I bought some expanding foam in a can, and sprayed it from the inside of the tube until it came out in the wheel arch. I then levelled it off and sealed it with under seal.I think everyone should check this spot for damage.
