Not car related, but from bitter experience: If using Tiger Balm (or other heat rubs), always wash your hands before going to the loo.

Default How to close one's bonnet

I think it's in the car manual but - close the bonnet to 200-250mm (8-10 inches)
and lt it fall. No slam, less noise - civilised as our owners should be.

Don't try to lift something that you lifted into position several years ago. I sold my lathe today and I couldn't lift it on my own! Do wheels get heavier too?

I always check for pipes rubbing together or rubbing on metal when I have my bonnet up. Two easy ones:- the air con pipe on the drivers side is usually rubbing on the underbonnet insulation, and the insulation also rubs on the top pipe of the underbonnet fuel pump. Wrap insulation tape round for a quick job.

Default bolt threads & nuts

A good way to protect the protruding thread of a bolt/nut under the car or anywhere you have access is to use some heat shrink, cut the heat shrink at least 5m-10m longer than the thread, once heated use some small longed nose pliers to pinch the shrink together to seal the end as in the photo below, which is an example. it should help stop the end of the thread from rusting thus helping in the future to remove the nut or bolt as hopefully no corrosion as taken place.
