topping up a leaking clutch
if I top up my clutch master cylinder, is there every going to come a point where either the master or slave will just let go and all the fluid will just gush out? I think one has a leak but I'm not sure. I'd like to keep the car on the road a bit longer before taking the gearbox off, if that's is where the leak appears to be.
I am struggling to get my hand and arm to the master to even take the cap off. ... you get the idea macafee2 |

It may.
Like you I struggled to top mine up, getting the cap off initially was a pig and then I topped it up with a syringe. Age and a bad back made it worse. Then someone helped out bleeding it through with one of those Gunsen kits. It was brilliant, problem was it lasted 3 days then no clutch, the master had given up totally. |

I've managed to get the cap off and to my surprise there looks to be quite a lot of fluid in the master cylinder.

Hi Ian. Have you ever bled the clutch system to get some new fluid into the slave cylinder?

I found it best to take the cover off beneath the steering wheel and the top cover. You can get to the master cylinder easy then.

I was bent backwards over the sill hanging onto the steering wheel or on my knees twisted under the dash leaning on an elbow. It's a s.o.d of a job. macafee2 |

clutch bleeding / top up
Just try back bleeding far easier, put rags on car floor to catch fluid from m/cyl.One use for an old under bonnet fuel pump to provide suction from a can of new fluid and push fluid through system when connected to bleed nipple. Connect pump to battery and of you go.

I just got my ZT back from the transmission shop after having them do the clutch. Their comment on the clutch master..."What a stupid design. What were they thinking?"
