a good job but may i just add this will probably work loose in time as you have used a standard nut maybe a nyloc nut would be better suited or using thread locker...still a good and very cheap job, nice work

Yes a standard nut used but also used grip washers, don't forget there still needs to be some play in the mirror for adjustment and folding the mirror in, overtightening will restrict this. Also the back (chrome section) just pops off giving easy access to tighten the bolt should that be required. It's not putting the mirror back to it's factory installed standard but a simple & very inexpensive way to repair.
But I take your point

Door Mirror Woe
I have the same predicament at the moment with my 75, can anyone tell me what the internal bore or diameter for those washers was?
I am new to the forum and would be very grateful! |

I repaired my mirror in this way some months ago and it is fine. Providing you do not tighten the nut too much, the mirror will fold back as intended.

The internal dimension is not critical just ensure it is wide enough to take the bolt so it sits on the washer and not slip through. 10mm should be fine.

Another Success!
I have just completed the Repair as described, but used a threaded 60mm x M6 bolt, a 30mm washer and a 37mm washer for the underneath of the Mirror support and a 'nyloc' nut to secure the bolt, as I had these items 'in stock'. The damage was only the spigot so it was a relatively easy task, 45 mins. with all tools and bits assembled.
A great 'Fix-it', thanks for the help and giving me the confidence to tackle the job as we are off to Lisbon this afternoon, some 125kms away and holding it together with duct-tape was the only other option. Spares etc. are a bit thin on the ground here, so to say I'm grateful is an understatement Best regards Martin |

Been busy then phil? hope the motor was ok, dread to think if it was not with all the effort finding and fitting the powerfolds, good job mate. you need to get it on to a driveway out of the way of vandals. oh should have told me about this broken mirror, seen a w rover in scrapyard with mirrors in llantrisant had a nice uppermanifold with motors as well
