Well folks, my friend checked the car and says it is a good one. There are 2 things in addition to the door locks question mark. It needs a "waist seal" - the inside seal between the window and door card on the right rear door. It is all warped and twisted. The other curiosity is that, being from Germany, it apparently has an add on DPF. Does anyone know about that? Can I remove it?

Thank you,
Glenn

Could be because it's compulsory to use winter tyres during certain months in some parts of Europe (https://www.uniroyal-tyres.com/car/t...yres-mandatory) - easier to have two sets of wheels rather than one.

Yes, mandatory in SK. The snows on the car are brand new 0 kms. This car was just imported and not driven there, yet. The snows are on 7-spokes. I haven't seen the summer tires, yet, but are on alloys (hopefully nice) and are said to be OK wear-wise.

I take it these waist seals cannot be bought new anymore? Has anyone discovered an alternative, yet? I thought I saw Freelander mentioned. What about the MK1s - are the waist seals more likely to be in good condition on those?

Cheers,
Glenn

You could buy the long wheelbase's RH waist seal and carefully shorten it. See 8th, 9th, 10 pics down - https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=240851

The waist seal thing seems to affect all the cars, both of mine have the galvanic corrosion thing going on, but it doesn’t spoil my enjoyment of the car. Will probably get around to sorting them out one day. Your car looks a good prospect and it would be good to see another one on the road in SK.

Thanks David. The looks are one thing, but I guess my wife and I will be in the front and not see it so much. Still, I'd like to do something with it because it IS ugly and I really don't like rattles.

We don't have the car yet, though, so we'll see what happens next week.

I wish someone knew something about the DPF, though, because that part really bothers me about this car.

Hopefully it will be one more on the road in SK, yes.

Cheers,
Glenn
