I had the boost pipe come off once, and all the grunt went, but it was accompanied by a mass of overfueling black smoke much to the dismay of the Merc Following close

According to Matt's profile it is a 2.5 V6.

Default Re: engine loose power

Hi Guys,

Today I went to my mechanic about my previous problem of engine power lost.. He tested a few times the car with the T4 and he found various error messages about engine not working properly on 3 cylinders so now he reseted but I'll need to change Motor assembly multi point injection/TBi - Detail of Assembly OR balance valve motor, it seam that this along with the other VIS motor are a common problem.
So I've to spend £150 to have back all the engine power!
I'll keep you informed when job is done.

Cheers

Matt

Plenty of options for repairing VIS motors or replacing with upgraded items. Search the forum for 'VIS motor' to find relevant threads.

I should also add this. A sudden loss of power with a warning light is unlikely to be caused by a failed VIS motor alone - many of the V6s drive around with failed VIS motors without the warning light coming on.

I can confirm whilst you will notice a difference in economy and performance if your VIS motors have failed they will NOT bring the engine management light on.

When my old Contemporary ran on 3 with the light on it was a coil pack. Lincsdave who did the repair said its a common thing.
