Default Help req

My life is a mess im homeless and sleeping in my car now i have trouble with it the battery light keeps coming on under 1000 revs im not mechanical minded its a diesel 2.0 if any one in lincoln could help me ii have hardly any data left but can txt me 07701338945 or any help to know whats wrong thanks Paul

Sounds like it could be the alternator but you'll need a multi-meter to check. I think they are a pain to replace on the diesel but there is a way to repair in-situ, hopefully someone who knows can give you some guidance. Is it being driven?

That's a terrible situation to be in. I would say the alternator brushes are worn almost to the end of their useful life. They can be replaced for little cost and, providing the armature (I think they may be called slip rings on your side of the pond) is still functioning (not worn through), will buy you some time - maybe years. BUT, your admitted mechanical minded deficit means you should get someone to do the job for you - maybe a member or trader here is in your neighbourhood. A trader could probably supply a lower mileage used alternator if need be.
