A/C Control assy
So sorry, but it's me again. My A/C is now up and running -ho-ray you say, but I am left with the problem of how to switch it on. I always assumed that setting the temperature to 'LO' would activate the system, but the guy that re-gassed it say's otherwise. So the question is how do I do it, did Rover ever produce a supplement to explain fully it's use, over and above the standard non-climatic control? Please do have patient with me - I get my free T.V. licence next month!

Set it to 'Auto' then set the temperature lower than the ambient temp

Depends how cold you want it to be, if its on auto, it will adjust the cabin temp automatically to whatever is set on the display.

You don't really turn it on as such. If you have it on auto, the car will work out what it needs. Mine is set at 21 Deg and I never change it.

Les, do you have the Automatic Temperature Control - dual zone digital display panel - or the manual system with 3 or 4 rotary knobs?
Cheers, Glenn

Hi Glenn, I had faith I would get a reply from you! I have dual the dual zone digi panel fitted. Any other car I have had, even my Wifes SLK200 have an A/C on-off knob, which is why I was baffled. It all makes sence now, but thanks for your reply again.

I have had a few cars with no obvious way of switching the A/C on or off, I presume they think you are going to leave it on all the time. In the summer to cool you and in the winter to keep the air dry.
I think it is Saab's that if you switched it on to Economy or what every the called it would go back to ON the next time you switched the ignition on automatically, interestingly an A/C engineer I know very well told me that cars that have the A/C on all the time by default have less trouble with there A/C than cars that have it only switched on when it goes above 25 degrees outside air temp. |
