FBH pin3/pin1
Hi all, I know I know its that time of year when you know you have one of these beauties and all the questions about parking/air con and telestarts pop up......
Well thanks to a few guys on here I know have a working FBH and would like to run a simple switch to turn it on from outside while I walk my dog.. I have earthed pin3.... nowt happens... the loom in the car has a grey/green wire in pin 1... No serial numbers on my FBH match up with the numbers mentioned in the forum (F98570D 449694 and 66724B on the front label) albeit there is a rover 75 sticker on the side of it..( ROVER JEC 104391) and years marked on its front..2005/6/7 Therefore is it possible for my FBH to work seemingly ok if it has an earlier programe type with a later loom....? dont know if I have explained myself very well there.... (If there is a 12v feed on pin 1... would the FBH fire up in test mode regardless of outside temp...?) Ive only just got it all plumbed in and the outside temp hasn't been over 5deg yet!! If anyone understands my ramblings any help is gratefully recieved.... Many thanks...

Hi Steve,
I have just fitted my FBH, purchased from RoverBreakers (absolute god send in this weather). My worked fine once I got the fuel up the feed pipe into the heater, initially the FBH went into lockdown mode but after 'rebooting it' I managed to get it started. The pin 3 is the one that is closest to the front of the car and at the engine side. As supplied it has a little blue rubber bung in the hole that will stop you getting a proper connection, have you removed this? To test mine, I use a length of solid core wire (as used in wiring circuits in houses) I bared the end of this by about 35 mm and pushed it well into the hole in the plug. I then earthed the other end against one of the suspension turret bolts. When connected you can hear it clearly trying to start. Using pin 3 in this manner will circumvent the alternator and temperature switch. There is loads of good information deeper in the forum if you search for FBH, it may take a while to read through each thread but it is all good background stuff until you find what you are actually looking for. All the best

That is petunia
It should burst in to life with pin 3 earthed Note you do need to keep it earthed all the time you want to keep it running Have you removed the blue bung, are you definitely making contact with the pin? |
