Exhaust back box strap broken
Hi All
The strap securing the rear box on my exhaust has broken. I have been told I will need to buy a complete new exhaust system to fix this, seems a little harsh considering it is a bolted on piece of metal! Does anyone know where I can get hold of just the metal strap? I have a 1.8t Saloon. THanks for any help anyone can give. Paul

Full system???? Somebody is taking the proverbial mate. Is it the top half of the hangar or the lower? The top half is part number WCU101021 Bottom half is WCU000310

My metal strap holding the rear box on my 75T broke when I was on holiday at a rented property next to a farm on Dartmoor last summer. I was thinking big bucks IF I could get it to a repairer!!
The helpful farmer took a look underneath and in 15 minutes with a bottle jack and a length of strong fencing wire he fixed it back in place very securely just be twisting the ends with a pair of pliers. It's still held firmly in place and I think I may just leave it until the rear section rusts through. You obviously don't need expensive repairs. John Wright |

That's a coincidence, my 1.8T also has a very rusty strap in danger of breaking that I wanted to replace soon
Thanks for the part numbers XPart02! |

I replaced both top and bottom last year. Top part was on back order at the time, but came through in a few days.
Beware, the EPC seems to suggest that the upper part comes with the rubbers. It doesn't. Even if your rubbers are OK, it's best to splash out on a pair, otherwise you have to take them off carefully for re-use. A sharp knife on the old ones saves several hours of pain. |
