Know Your Car
Does anyone use the Know Your Car app?
I find it extremely useful as a reminder for Tax,Ins MOT etc. It's very useful. Anyway this week the car went for its MOT and at 13:01 Weds afternoon I received a notification via the app to say congratulations your car has passed no advisories, this with a link to click to see details. I was very impressed within minutes of the tester keying in the info I got the notification. The gov UK website didn't update until the following day. Thought it may be useful for you guys who are on pins waiting for news of your MOT if you've left the car at the test centre.

use a calendar for mots and insurance plus the calendar in Microsoft outlook.
I stay with the car while the mot is done so I can see under the car, see what they are doing and talk to the tester about anything he has noted. One tester passed my sons car with broken exhaust hangers having spoken to me and trusting me to fix them which I did. macafee2 |

Whilst I am at the testing garage I can dash to any high street shops I wouldn't normally get to. As Macafee does, I grab an opportunity to get under the car, with permission, and always have a chat with the examiner.

Mot due this Tuesday (20th) and they can't fit me in till 27th due to dispensation finishing they have a backlog. It will have to sit on the drive for a week as this garage has done all the work on my car and are a great set of lads so no point going elsewhere to be disapointed.

The garage I use send me a text 6 weeks before the MOT is due and then again three weeks before it's due.
Insurance also text me 1 month before renewal time and then phone two weeks before renewal. I get your point though that this app would be useful as a reminder to people as some garages and insurance companies don't do as mine do. As for tax I do the monthly DD so it does just keep going. |
