A simple check when things like this are happening, is to note whether there's any residual pressure in the header tank when stone cold fiollowing a long drive. Leave it untouched overnight. There shouldn't be any escape of pressure when releasing the cap. Residual cold pressure means exhaust gas in the system. TC |

I have commented on this before, when I first got my 1.8 L 75 I was overfilling and worrying about HGF. However car does not lose any coolant at all, yet even after standing for 2 - 3 days there is always a release of pressure when I take the cap off. Does not happen on my V6.

The amber light is a warning, not a mandatory, so when you have time, just check out the advice that will shortly be coming from other members. |

The pad wear warning will show if there's an electrical break in the sensor wiring. It's a simple loop around front and rear pads. It's supposed to break when one of the pad sensor heads is worn through, but if there's simply a bad connection somewhere, the warning light pops on. The wear heads may be unaffected. First place to check is the sensor heads themselves and then the connectors behind the wheel arch liners. These are a common cause of false warnings.
