Default 30 years ago today....

The new Rover R8 200 was launched with the 400 following the following year. The new car was fitted with Rovers new K series engine in 1400 guise whilst the 1600 cars had a Honda engine. The cabriolet, tourer and coupe models also followed and the R8 range was considered to be the best model to be built by the company.

The last sold ordered 75 Tourer. Paid for by the Phoenix Four and handed over by John Towers to the Warwickshire Northampton Air ambulance service as a Rapid Response vehicle

Had a Rover 216s with the honda engine and gearbox brand new at the launch from Bolebridge garage in Tamworth. Lovely car at the time, velour seats and it was the first "budget" car with the Rover name.

I always owned Fords including Capri's .Cortina's and Granada's and never even looked at these ' little Rovers' at the time. A garage that I worked in needed me to collect some parts and as I wouldn't use my Capri due to insurance , my service manager threw me the key's to his Rover 216 GSi with the Honda engine . What a lovely classy little car it was and I was so impressed that when I got rid of the Capri I replaced it with my first Rover , a 620 GSi . This in turn lead me to the Rover 75 and the rest is history as I've had 75's since 2002

Seems like yesterday, the steelworks hasn't fared so well closed a few years ago the locomotive may still exist
I kind of recreated that scene earlier this year with the ZT stood at a narrow gauge railway crossing and a loco and skips went by
Unfortunately I don't ever seem to be able to upload on this site hence no avatar

It's very easy to upload from your computer directly to the site.
Are you clicking on that small yellow square at the top of the page that says--insert image---???

This will take you to your computer pictures, downloads etc.

Select an image and click on enter.
As long as the image is not too big it will appear in your post.
