I don't think Murray deserved one either, In fact nobody in sport deserves one.

They should only be given out to those that have actually contributed to medical and scientific breakthroughs, Not dressing in shorts and driving a car in a circle.

Well, it's not very sociable of me but it is a social matter.

It's all part of the general devaluation of many areas of human endeavour. The value of sport has been enhanced to patronise the public by making working class heroes out of ordinary people. Darts will be next. Then stamp collecting.

I suppose that's better than the er, anomaly, of a certain P. Green being knighted with his record of public benefaction. Priorities of those that have the influence over these things are questionable and it's tempting to criticise choices.

It does seem to be mainly concerned, although there are exceptions, with the amount of money generated one way or another and rarely as a result of genuine personal endeavour or in fields of improving the lives of others. But then life is not meant to be fair or equitable. A more suitable recognition for sportsmen and women might be statues at or near their 'Field of Dreams'.

He was caught red-handed for tax fraud by HMRC, lol. And to this day many who remember the incident are sceptical of the true reason why he escaped prosecution and a jail sentence given the treatment of others at the time for the type of offence. His first attempt to acquire Northern Rock bank failed, it was reported at the time that someone in officialdom had deemed him not to be a fit person to own a bank - someone no doubt with a memory of his past antics with HMRC.

Err, you only quoted post 23 when you asked me to elaborate and I think that post 28 more than satisfies the request. More so given the very well reported on-track and off-track antics of the diva himself.

For anything else read post 10.

Thanks WillyH, all duly noted along with your reluctance to provide requested and relevant info. You sound angry, I hope I haven't contributed to that.

Did BBC cover it up, keep it a secret, did not expose.
