Exclamation Slight stuttering and slight loss of power.

My ZT190 has been in full use since the diesel ZS went into the garage a few days ago.

Today on my way home the zt felt like she was stuttering a little and maybe a slight loss of power.

Also feels ever so slightly 'kangarooish' when changing between gears.

She also has a very slight shake when ticking over when first started from cold. Though I had assumed that might just be a worn out engine mount .

But now I'm not so sure.

It also smells of petrol outside the car when first started , but recently I've been smelling it when parking up too sometimes.

Any ideas appreciated.

Symptoms seemed to get better with some super unleaded fuel.

Still very petroly smelling though. Any areas of the fuel lines that are common to leak?

I'm in the middle of a similar problem. I have fitted a repair kit to the throttle and am now replacing the plugs and leads to the front cylinders as these are known to break down over time. If that doesn't cure it I shall have to get it checked for failing coil packs or Vis motors.

Moonstone had a strong smell of petrol, particularly when filled up with petrol. Turned out to be the seal on the top of the petrol tank, now replaced and fine since.

Well Gareth, some days have passed and no one has come up with an enlightened diagnosis so here's a few thoughts for you.

As Brunty says, the filter assembly in the tank, if it's been disturbed but no, the fuel system is not known for leaks. Time to crawl underneath to have a look.

This could be a failing ignition coil. A T4 session will tell you if a particular cylinder is misfiring.
