Re speaker cable - a snake oil salesmans dream! For the current we are discussing and from what I've read on here the standard cabling is acceptable. Start with the speakers...

Couldn't agree more, it is a right hassle to do as well for at best very minimal gains ( if any )

Far better would be to use sound deadening material on the doors whilst the door trim panel is off

Having said that, we keep the full range of QED speaker cables and interconnect leads should you wish

gents, you are both, well, gentlemen!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HERTZ-ESK1...item4855a409df

gonna go with these

the navall 2 jeff, says online its 45w per channel and theres 4 channels

is that max, so rms will be about 20?

if it is, what then will be the downside to only firing 20w into a 100w speaker?

will it not be as loud as possible, or will it not sound as good?

re deadening...do you sell what i need? i also hear i could do with replacing the plastic mound for the speaker with an mdf one, do you sell them?

right, finally actually getting these, as christmas presents, woohoo!!

decided to go with:

speakers - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2612945384...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

amp - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MB-QUART-O...item3cd65e3f21

tell me though, the speakers have 40mm diameter tweeters...will they fit?

do the amp and the speakers seem well suited?

and last question...can anyone tell me what wiring kit i need?

thank you

As Kourgath mentioned in his extensive write-up, quoting frequency range without stating the Db drop figure is meaningless.

Almost any speakers can reproduce a reasonable sounding range if quoted at -10db or more.

In addition the sensitivity (say 93db) is useless unless quoted with power and distance (typically 1w 1m).

id happily buy from sir jeff, but im already stretching as it is so as much as id like to keep costs in house, i cant if its dearer!

i bought the sound deadening from him though!

100w rms, 4 ohms, freq of 60 - 23 khz and db rating of 93.5, tweeter 25mm which is same as existing if im not mistaken

jeff, can you confirm the power of the output from the amp in the dd unit?

if i just plug these right in, will it sound bad from the underpowered amp in unit?

last question for now also...am i really better changing the speaker wire over? is it possible to just disconnect the existing wire and trace new, thicker stuff along an easier route?

But i was just adding to the general comments about ratings and frequencies - I'm sorry, I don't have an answer to the diameter question.

Look, I am sorry if I've done/said the wrong thing I really seem to have rubbed you up the wrong way, for which I'm sorry cos I certainly didn't mean to.
