trinity switch testing
Hi all.
Is there a way of testing the trinary switch. My air conditioning chap is saying my system is over pressure. New compressor fitted. Condenser is off a working system. Regased. Tests from the plug end of the trinity switch all good. Air conditioning worked for 3 days then just stopped. Using the trinity switch plug compressor kicks in and engine fan working fine. Thanks all |

If your air con. specialist's gauge set is showing excessive pressure then that rules out a trinary switch failure. Following the fitting of the second-hand condenser, was the system left on evacuation for 20 to 30 minutes before charging with refrigerant? Simon

Hi Simon,
Yes was left for around 30min. Only thing left to change is the switch but wanted to see if there was a way of testing the switch. On first start up after the regas the gauge was reading over pressure. And compressor was cutting in for two or 3 minutes then cut out. After the front end was refitted and external temperature sensor was refitted it worked fine for 3 days. Then just stopped working. Engine fan is working. Tested from the switch plug. Compressor is working. Tested from the switch plug Clutch is working. Tested from diagnostic kit. Both fan speeds are working. Tested by diagnostic kit. But no air con . Thanks |

Thanks for your detailed reply Steve.
What did the gauge attached to the low pressure Schrader valve read? Was that high as well? Is the compressor brand new? Is it the correct type for your engine? Simon Summary High pressure immediately upon starting engine New compressor Compressor clutch tested (using diagnostic kit) Second-hand condenser, 30 mins. vacuum Radiator fan tested (higher speed from trinary connector, both speeds using diagnostic kit)
