Over the years and with various cars I've had over half a dozen front springs snap and on the four cars that had protectors none damaged the tyre, and on the three that didn't they all rendered the tyre scrap. So for the small cost of them they are well worth it. |

That's reassuring. The NOS factory springs recently fitted to my 2002 1.8 car all have the satin finish. I think the fronts were the unbroken originals with the same finish while the rears were possibly replacements, red/white with satin finish though both bottom coils were snapped off.
