Default Aerial amp / filer XUE100001

Can any advise if this needs a live feed.
The first 2 plugs from the left are to the screen. Is the third a live feed?

I believe that the brown wire to which you refer is the HRW elements supply Mike, but I recommend that you verify that with your multimeter.

Thanks, so this box is not any to do with the aerial ?
I am getting an excellent radio am / fm on my driveway but a lot of intermittent interference whilst on the move
I have checked and powered the aerial amp on the passenger pillar so I wondering whether this filter also needed a power supply

The in-car entertainment and aerial systems are a bit of a nightmare to untangle Mike. Looking at my own car, the box you mention is connected to the HRW elements which also function as the aerial. It doesn't however feed a radio signal to the entertainment system. Its function might be to stop RF interference reaching the car's DC power supply since it is described in the parts catalogue as a "filter, screen aerial".

Is your excellent reception on your drive with the engine switched off or running?
Could the interference on the move be linked with varying radio transmitter signal strength? Is it particularly bad on FM regional stations?

Reception is perfect on drive with or without the engine running.
This problem has started again following replacing an old Navall unit with a new Erisin. I have checked the aerial amplifier XUC100741 and it is powered and working.
When driving I get a good signal but intermittent interference which I why I was wondering if the "filter" had anything to do with it
The interference is only on the radio.

Hi Mike,

Since reception is generally good whether at home or on the road, with only occasional interference, have you considered that your aftermarket radio equipment might be the cause? Or, if the interference occurs in the same part of the country, it could be local reception conditions. Does the interference coincide with using the windscreen wipers for example?

I would only suspect the filter, XUE 100 001, if the interference coincided with use of the heated rear window.

This is the aerial filter, located on the offside D pilar.

The connections can become burnt and indeed the whole unit has be known to overheat.

The aerial filter located on the nearside D pilar does have a 12v feed on the brown wire.

The 12v comes from the radio connections either ISO plug or BMW plug depending on the radio fitted to your 75.
