EGR cooler leak
On Saturday Mrs Andy phoned to ask why the air con fan wasn't switching off, when she turned the engine off about 30 minutes previously. Fearing a flat battery I asked if it was still running? Turns out it the fan had stopped after a few minutes. When I got home I discovered it was a bit hot, immediately to 89 C on temperature gauge when i started it up. Radiator was cold, tank empty and not much coolant left. I put water into the tank. All the while the temperature was up around 100C and the cooling fan was running.
As the water started gradually moving, the radiator filled and the temperature dropped instantly from 100 to 78 degrees. I gave it a few revs to make sure it was pumping round ok. At this point Mrs Andy saw the water spraying out of this plug on the EGR cooler, out of this broken plastic plug. I assume this is a bleed valve. When the water pump slowed the water stopped spraying out. I've attached a before and after photo in green & pink. The top appears to have snapped off somehow and the the bottom parts is still in the threads with a small hole about 1mm diameter. Looks like replacement is needed but doesn't appear on Rimmers parts catalogue. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001956 Anyone ever had this before and know where to get a screw in plug? I'll link this in parts wanted in case somebody has one that can be posted please. |

Hi Andy.
What size is the ID thread maybe you can just add a short bolt with a rubber washer on.

Yes it's joined to the metal coolant pipe by a rubber hose. It is only on the auto because it has a cooler for the EGR system. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192220186512 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195661791653 Also have a read of this thread. https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=151399
