The catch from Sky is that if you don't subscribe to at least the basic package plus films OR Sport you have to pay £10 per month for the facility. You record onto the hard drive inside the Plus Boxes. What a rip off of a otherewise great idea.

Thanks John

Are you saying if I got an outside aerial and two Freeview boxes then I could in theory watch and record two channels at once? The thing is I can't upgrade to digital NTL because I can't do that on their digital service. They are slowly switching off their analog channels so I have to do something within the next few months or so. Plus doing it with freeview would make the whole telly thing a lot cheaper of course.

And of course you can whip out the puny 40GB drive and drop a big 250GB+ one in. I must get around to watching stuff I recorded in 2005....

This sometimes means that the case cooling fan comes on permanently but you'll find that if you disconnect the fan, it doesn't get very hot anyway if you use a 'modern' disk drive.

Yes Ken you could. Once Analogue is turned off you will need a FreeView Box for each TV & or Video anyway, (Unless you using scart to record same channel on video, then you would not need a seperate box). If you use a seperate feed from a Aerial Distribution Amp you can then run any number (up to the number of outlets on Amp) of Boxes, to TV's in other rooms.

Going further if you do all the inputs into a decent AV amp, with recent LCD set, with certaing facilities you can watch picture in picture on screen at same time. I'll leave that one for now as it starts getting expensive what with HDMI, LCD Screens and 7:1 THX amps.

I have an LCD HDD telly which is full of sockets around the back, I think I will have to look into this a bit deeper. Thanks for your help John
