Default Intercooler top hose

My top hose is squidgy and getting into a state. Whilst I'm looking for other parts for other reasons I found my mk2 one. But, it has that join; What goes into the join? Is it the sensor for the vacuum hoses thats on that bracket engine-side of the egr?

Additionally since I can't find the spare mk1 one I had, wife hasn't touched that either apparently, can I just use the Mk2 one with loads of cloth tape over the hole or does the sensor really need to be used?

I would imagine that the sensor is sealed so you could use it, but why not buy the proper one.

My son has cancer. Diagnosed May 2015 and we spent an additional 12-15k in the first year living between Edinburgh and home. I had to give up my business to drive him up and down. I recently stripped a mk2.
ztt that dvla refused to remove the scrap marker from and have an almost brand new Mk2 hose(the car hadnt moved since 2013).
I removed the sensor as it was clip in, but forgot to pickup the wiring as after 10 hours I was knackered and had to figure out how to get everything I'd taken off into my ZTT. So I have what looks like an almost new replacement intercooler hose with a join that I'm wondering if can be plugged or if I need to replace the wiring for.

My guess is its the dame plug that either comes from the MAF or the one that goes into the bracket the vaccum hoses goes into? I really don't have the cash to splurge on another new hose if I have one that will fit and can be sorted with duct tape.

Regards, Alan

Hi Alan
At the moment do you have fitted the CDT hose without the turbo boost sensor, and as this swollen and weeping sticky lubricant, if so then as you describe it does need changing.

Now if you have a CDTi hose which incorporates the alloy TBS with the sensor screwed into the unit, you can if need be replace the CDT one with this, you would not need to plug the sensor in.

They can be retro fitted for the sensor to work if need be, but that would need the wiring and plug to be added to the cars loom.

Few photo's below for you they may help ?

Cheers Steve. I thought that it would be possible to use without any modification, because the turbo boost sensor is obviously sealed. That’s saved nearly £40 for our fellow enthusiast. Easy enough to fit, and Steve (Artic) has done a ‘how-to’ on how to fit it.)
