I literally know the feeling - I did this job a few days ago.

My knuckles are still skinless - my wife keeps asking why I don't wear gloves.........

Some things you can just not apply heat to - so try the other extreme - ice!

Check for this stuff on eBay if you haven't hear of it - its a great idea, and really works - usually.

wurth rost off ice

You should be able to get it locally, perhaps from an agricultural / tractor parts supplier as every farmer round here has discovered it - that's how I encountered it.

It freezes - cracks the rust and has penetrating oil - much better than WD40 type stuff alone.

Another one in Consett

Drop the caliper off, invert it and then fill the rubber covers (where the pins sit) with penetrating oil and leave for a few hours, refit the caliper and try again.

Failing that, I have a spare rear caliper if you want to swap, may get you out of trouble if you are stuck!

Are you using an allen key socket or just a short allen key? A socket type lets you get far more leverage on it with a standard socket bar.

Looks like its off with the brake hose and a different caliper then watch the bolts that hold the caliper on, they have a tendancy to round off, use a hex socket if possible.

With the caliper off and in a bench vice, it should be possible to get proper leverage on the pins to get them out. They're not exactly huge bolts after all.

Exactly, much easier off the car, less swearing and skinning of fingers

Try tapping the end of the socket and extension with a hammer before attaching the ratchet. A few good whacks might loosen the rust off the threads.
