Post 10, agreed.

For me however, it was at Crystal Palace and Brands Hatch; plus once, in 1964, the I.o.M.

Memories.

No, it's a B24 Empire Star, girder rigid but not too heavy.
Great bike, best thing I own - the only vehicle I won't part with.

If you crave the smell of fuel, just run a glow plug model engine (methanol with x% of nitromethane for fuel) every now and then. Yummy!
A reliable S Type without rot is akin to a miracle.

That is the original exhaust, all Empire Stars and most slopes had Brookland cans and fishtails.

Picture from 1938 BSA catalogue.

very nice. ah the beauty of the long stroke engine. i bet without these early pioneering beauties we would never have seen the goldstar. a friend of mine had one and told me he had to slip the clutch in first up to 40 M.P.H ....

The 1938 M24 Gold star was the bike I always wanted, it was developed directly from the Empire star with an all aluminium high compression engine, Amal TT carburettor and lightweight electron cased gearbox.
