Broken down
We have expired on the A30 on our way to a Cornish MGOC event. The AA were with me within 30 minutes of phoning. Rear brake caliper has seized on.

Hi Bob. You will have to start doing more miles in the old girl to stop these niggles happening.

I cannot fault the AA in anyway.
I pulled away from home and the car felt sluggish, I had put some of that new E10 petrol in last week and thought coupled with the throttle body problem that was the reason. Managed to drop down onto the A30 ok, but there was a horrible smell that seemed to be getting worse. A van pulled alongside and the passenger pointed to the rear of the car. So I pulled into a lay-by and was engulfed in smoke.
Lots of smoke coming from the osr brake. Looked like the calliper had seized. Contacted the AA via their app. They immediately phoned me to say that I was a priority breakdown as I was on the A30. Get out of the car and find a suitable place to wait for recovery, I was told on the phone. And within 25 minutes the hero arrived. He removed the osr wheel and set about the brake calliper. Took right off and regressed the pistons. Reassembled everything. Told me to drive up to the Victoria services where he would check it again. Which I did. And he then set about taking the nsr assembles off and sorting that out as well. The reason being was the nsr was hotter than the one that had been smoking. All reassembled within 30 minutes. Wrote out his report that he has emailed to me and a copy to the office. And I was on my way to the meeting point with the Cornish MGOC. But I decided to park up and video the convoy as it went past, all 19 cars. Home now. I phoned Matt, and he will have a look at the callipers next week. I cannot praise the AA enough from the lady on the phone reassuring me to the mechanic who sorted out the problem.

I used to be with the AA but went off them when I called them out to my Omega and ended up giving the patrol guy one of my spare fuses for his van!
