There wre gear boxes built to handle at least 200 BHP in every day use from the production line like those fitted to the 820 Vittese, 620Ti and the 220 Tomcat Coupe. The PG1 type box was also used by other makers so there must be something that will suit your needs out there. If money is no object the Quaife I understand make a 6 speed sequential box that will fit...................................... saddly I beleive they also cost about £7k

Just curious but-----------with all this extra power how about the suspension, dampers, brakes etc ???
Or are all these mods just to make the car go fast in a straight line ?? Colvert.-- |

This is a massive sore point for some and best left alone, imo.

At my age ( 77 ) I don't get involved in sore points. When manufacturers build high performance cars every bit of the car is designed to be able to use that power. Without the strengthening of parts, power of the engine alone is just not enough !! It's a bit like taking the horse out of a horse and cart and fitting in 500 bhp engine between the shafts.--------( In my opinion. Lol. ) Merry Xmas everybody. Currently the cars on the 190 brakes as Jordan mentioned, plus braided Goodridge hoses and Brembo discs. I am looking into brake set ups on the cars with similar power. Worth noting that the V8 doesn't have that different a set up. Suspension wise, not really thinking of changing it. Coil overs might be a potential, not so much for the lows but for the rigidity. Did you have any thoughts on what brakes/suspension to use? Last edited by Pistonbroke666; 9th December 2014 at 05:57.. |

Thinking about suspension some more.
It'll still be a relatively lightweight K series up front and MG-R are known for having developed very high quality suspension set ups. If the 75 V8, which I presume isn't on the hard springs can handle the power, why wouldn't my standard set up? That's not a rhetorical question... any people in the know that know? |

Hope it works out
I'm at home recovering from hand surgery and seeing the delights of daytime tv....I've been watching ch221 turbo discovery (Chasing classics, Graveyard Carz, Wheeler Dealers etc)...a little bit green at the fact I'd love my 75 and my 924 to be given a bolt up full restoration...it's just the £££'s.
It's obvious that with enough money it's do-able! It's a case of you making the car the best you want it to be. I'm in Essex and when it happens I'd love to see it. I've always wanted a street sleeper, seen a 75 v8 with the supercharger I think my 924 is more realistic between the two...want to turbo charge it, need to find the right way and the right people! Wish you all the best in making it happen Paul |
