Motorbikes is theoretically my main hobby, mainly Ariels (great history and a tenuous link with Rover). As a side to that I've somehow ended up with a decent collection of motorcycle magazines going back 90 years mostly with Ariels on the cover.
I'm also a fan of cycling. I've racked up a lot of miles over the past year on a 80's Hercules Commuter and have a 1937 Raleigh for pottering with the missus.
Over the years I've spent a lot of time around horses, my daughter was a showjumper before she had children and my granddaughter is now competing amazingly well. I'm hopeless on a horse but am in demand for driving & maintaining the lorry :¬)
She's also doing well on Instagram! Bella

But in reality most of my spare time is as deputy gardener. I enjoy it but my word its bad for the back.....

Other interests apart from classic cars include

Railways: I own a Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0st in working order until 31/12/20 and now under statutory overhaul (again) anda BR built class 47 in working order though no doubt the batteries will be a bit flat as not run for some months.

Football: for too many decades I have followed Stoke

Real ale: first job for 16 months before going to uni was in production on a real ale brewery - closed in November 1974

Family, travel, politics
