It should have been a fail...

2.7 Seats
These will be inspected to check that:
  • the driver’s seat can be adjusted
  • all seats are securely fitted and that seat backs can be fixed in the upright position

Can't inspect something that isn't there!

Isn't it similar to no spare tyre? No tyre - pass , poor quality tyre - fail ( Or is that just urban legend? )

Maybe falls into construction and use rather than mot then?

I know that when I built my kitcar (Ginetta G31) many moons ago, I was told that as long as the drivers seat and seat belt were fitted they could carry out its initial MOT test - which it passed.

Looks nice and a rare colour,

BUT,

Appalling MOT history of recurring minor faults indicative of a neglectful and uncaring owner only repairing faults when forced to (MOT time), making you wonder if routine maintenance was also lacking.

Top money based only on (in my mind), its rare colour, if this had been a bog standard Trophy blue or Starlight silver, you'd I bet be lucky to get a grand for it.

It is handy checking the MOT site, before I bought my current ZT I was looking at another one and the MOT history was again full of things like worn or cut tyres, emissions problems, no screenwash and things like that. Had all the service stamps according to the ad but in the end that did put me off, the bloke wanted top money for it as well. Then a beautiful firefrost appeared, better MOT history and an enthusiast owner and at a lower price so I snapped it up and I'm pleased I did. Funny enough the other car I was looking at is now on Ebay again with a dealer.

Not fancy the one owner from new one for sale on here? with a short MOT which will extend automatically, and just shy of 200K on the clock for £995 ONO?

Even given the MOT history and mileage of this one, if it had a proper gearbox, I would have bought this myself
