All you can really do is check there is 12v getting to the elements, other than than that you'll have to replace the glass as the heating element is integral with it. Had to swap one of mine as it was poor heating.
For reasons I do not understand, MGR wired the mirrors and washer jets up so they are permanently on, where as most other cars I have come across they only turn on when you hit the heated rear window. In reality, you're only ever going to need them for the first few minutes of your journey so why would you need them switched on in the middle of summer? |

Get yourself a fibre glass pen , and if you adjust the glass so there is a gap nearest the car , use a large screwdriver to make the gap a bit larger with very gentle pressure, you can reach the terminals to remove the wires, clean and put back without removing any bits

From your reply I think that both of my mirrors have given up.
There is a voltage supply to them as they both open and close with no problems. Either poor contacts at the mirror or the element is broken. I don't like playing about with them as they give the impression of being very fragile. Not sure if it's the same fuse for the element as for the motors. |
