Default Totally confused...

Hi all

Trying to wire in an amp using the towbar electrics that is hidden and taped up (orange and grey wire) behind the glove box...

I have found it also taped up underneath the engine bay fuse box, so connected it to the fourth blue multi plug as it had a spare slot so that it is now plugged in to the fuse box.

Wired the amp up the other end including the remote wire from the stereo but I dont get any power coming through.

The remote wire gets 10 amps to the amp so I know that is ok, but when I check with the multi meter to the orange and grey wire behind the glove box I get nothing.

I have tried a known working 50 amp fuse in both the empty slots in the engine bay fuse box but still nothing...

Anyone know what Im doing wrong??

Some pics below:

well set your meter to 20V range..earth to negative of battery, and then check each side of the fuse

then your connector are you sure the slate orange wire is in the correct part of the connector ..if no live at your join at the in car fuse box, it would suggest that something is wrong at the engine bay fuse box

So even though I have now plugged in the orange / grey wire that was taped up under the engine bay fuse box, that it still may not receive power from the fuse box?

My brain hurts lol

you found the slate orange wire under the engine bay fuse box....if you are using my picture as a guide, there is a proper connector that will connect into the engine bay fuse box

HOWEVER I did not want to spend the money to get the proper connector so went to scrap yard, removed the wires from the blue connector that is in the engine bay fuse box, I then adapted it so it would fit in the correct place in the engine bay fuse box

SO if you have just simply connected the slate orange wire into one of the blue connectors already present in your fuse box...then that may well be your problem

if you look at the picture you have there is another blue connector behind the one with the orange Grey wire..I took that from a scarp car and made it fit into the correct place for the tow bar grey orange wire

I presume you did not do that and simply used a spare slot in your already present blue connector

I already have what is in your picture, two white and two blue connectors.

The connectors closest already had two wires in it and there was a spare slot of which I put the orange / grey wire into.

I presume the two wires that are already there do something, so why dont I get any reading on my volt meter from the orange / grey wire in the car fuse box area, this is whats confusing me lol
