Default Up-rating a 2 litre KV6 for towing.

I am very pleased with my 2 litre Connie and it has towed my Very Old Cheltenham Caravan (around 975kg) admirably, however, I also have now a Carlight caravan that is a little bit heavier and do not particularly want the Connie to tug some 1400Kg in its present state.

I see that Diesels can be up rated; can the Petrol KV6 engine with Auto box be likewise? It is not speed but durability (Low end torque) I am after.

Perhaps there is a thought to change the engine to a 2.5?? Is that straightforward - not?
