Post Dashboard/passenger airbag buzz buzz buzz

So I've been experiencing a quite annoying and noticeable rattly buzzing on the inside of the car around 2000rpm. It first appeared while showing the car off to a friend for the first time lol. I finally located it last night by reaching over and gently pressing down on the dash right above the passenger airbag panel.

I've read threads saying the bcu is a common source but I think the airbag panel must be causing it if I can stop it using the method above. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm wary of meddling with it lest I cause an airbag explosion

Thanks

I have had this happening since I took ownership 6 years ago, always in the cooler weather and mine started about a week ago, I have removed everything from the dashboard to try and fix this problem and all without success, I removed the bcu and used closed cell foam around it along with everything else that could cause the vibration.
I have changed the engine mounts too.
The conclusion I came to is that it’s the plastic used becoming cooler.
There are many threads on here about it. I just live with it through the winter but once the interior is toasty warm and the plastic warms up all is good again.

If it is cold weather related, living in Scotland, this could be a year round problem for me I had thought of trying to stick a line of foam or something thin and soft around the back of that airbag panel but I don't want to do anything to affect its operation.

Remove the airbag cover and test again.

But when I had it, the buzzing noise remained until I added damping material to the bcu and bent the bracket a little.

Thanks, I will try both as I may as well. Does the airbag cover just pry off from the bottom? And did you bother to disable the airbag or disconnect the battery?

Just gently lever off the airbag cover from the bottom (refit the top first) the actual airbag is a good way behind the dashboard cover, you don’t need to disconnect the battery.

Plastic dashes tend to squeak and rattle more than the real veneer ones
