I am not advocating 50/50 PC reporting. I am saying that to totally ignore 50% of the population is bias in the extreme, not the same thing at all. I'm not a fan of PC driven bias but in order to ensure quality reporting surely a bare minimum is to be able to recognise the diversity of the population you are trying to reach otherwise we might as well keep the blinkers on.

What you mean is that you don't like him.

Bit lame isn't it? What the hell as that got to do with anything? He is undoubtedly a great racing driver who wouldn't be where he is without such an equally great team of people supporting him and a great deal of money backing up the team. My point is what has he got to do with being British? He has chosen to live as a tax exile so does nothing to support the British economy, dips in and out of 'causes' when he needs the publicity, what's to like? I wouldn't necessarily single him out amongst the many who could do so much more for this country (unlike the BBC) but choose not to. The inequality of wealth is not something any of us should be proud of.

But you chose to nevertheless. Seems he is an easy target for those that choose not to do any research to what he does for charitable causes etc when he isn't racing. Btw that 'German' team he races for is based in the UK and employs a large number of people here.

How about the fact that Mercedes chose to base its F1 team in Brackley and employs nearly 1,000 people?

Add to that the 700 that work at Brixworth on the engines and powertrains.

Whenever the proverbal gets stirred its uncanny the said stirrers are always low posters who are blue, strange fact that,it seems to happen on lots of threads, then they seem to go to ground and are replaced by another

I remember Mick Jagger saying he would never leave London and was happy to pay his taxes, until the 98% tax for high earners was introduced by Labour. Talk about the politics of envy! Successful high earners left the UK in droves, including Mick, and who could blame anyone for abandoning a country that treated them with such contempt? When taxes go above 50% the tax take actually goes down (Laffer curve). I should imagine the actual tax take at 98% was probably close to zero.

If you've ever watched foreign TV, esp in USA, it's appalling. I think there used to be a ruling that ads should occupy no more than 4 minutes of ads/hour. I recently wrote to OfCom querying that but answer came there none. Yes the Beeb is overstaffed and possibly Lineker is not worth £1000000000000000, but I'd rather watch Auntie - no I'd rather listen to steam radio actually - or read a good book - than most other channels.

Dave
The LibDem/Conservative alliance (I think) allowed more advertising per hour. When I was a snot nosed kid it was adverts about every 27 minutes with an ad break in which a pot of tea could be made. Now ad breaks are after every 10 minutes for 4 minutes (when I last timed them).

The number of channels has mushroomed but has followed the USA in that there is rubbish on them followed by rubbish repeats infinite (World at War for instance).

Pay by programme might be a good model and I would pay a fiver a week for no-advert streaming!

Kev
p.s.
I doubt if anyone at the BBC
votes other than LD & Labour.
