Default The weird world of tyres

For some years I've had Nexen tyres fitted: normally get 25K miles out of each. Unfortunately last year I suffered a puncture that couldn't be repaired, but a Nexen was fitted. The inevitable happened when I've just had to replace the other tyre, and my usual local small tyre fitting firm said they couldn't get any more Nexens. I'm probably wrong but I didn't want to fit a different make on the same axle so I found Nexens on-line and tried to match the same tread pattern. Cost me £65 + £25 fitting by my usual firm. (His suggested equivalent, a Bridgstone would have cost me £67. He tells me very few tyre firms will now fit supplied tyres).

Come the tracking number and I watched it start its life in Holland! (15th Sept 00.02) thence to Hinckley Leics, then Exeter (3.51 this morning) and was delivered here at 11.00am.

And the tyre was made in . . . China.

I have run Nexens in the past, but never got more than 15,000 miles from them. Have to see what my local independent man suggests next.

I've just today had four Uniroyal Rainsport 5 fitted to the wife's Sportage at my local National Tyres depot. I bought them online at Tyre Shopper whos prices include fitting by any affilliated outfit.https://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/tyres/205-55-16

You buy the tyres and book your fitting slot online. Left car with them and picked it up in an hour.

I use green flag tyres or Asda tyres and find both very competitive.
