Air con condenser change

Looking for someone in West Yorkshire who can fit me a new aircon condenser. Had it regassed but engineer showed me the pressure which was extremely high level. Compressor is working fine but he thinks the condenser and dessicant pack need replacing. Car is 17 years old and looking through the front grill condenser looks very blocked around the fins.
Anyone know a reliable and competent person and approximate price for job. I can supply the condenser from DMGRS.

Put "vehicle air conditioning near Pontefract" into Google and choose a mobile specialist rather than a garage.

Have you not considered having a go yourself?

There is not much to it really. Get your aircon guy to empty the system, you fit the condenser, then go back for a regas

seconded, I did mine last year.
If you have never done it, it may feel like a daunting task but it is not.
As well as a condenser you may want to replace the o rings where the pipes secure to the condenser, I think member Jules ( not sure) is the man to talk to about the O rings

Hi Mark.
As above if you are ok with a spanner you can do this job your self albeit about 3 hours work if you have not done it before, bumper off, slam panel off with lights attached, fan off, then remove the condenser.

A few snap shots of an how to i intend to do in near future regarding the above.

Hi, I have about the same problem. I also had high pressure when filling the gas. I suspect a condenser, so I'll buy a new one with O-rings.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably have a go as no problem with spanners but the job will be later in year as car will be layed up as I am away for a few months sunshine.
Just a quick question though, how do I go about de-gassing the system.

Take it to any garage that tops up aircon, just ask them to empty the gas out and tell em you will be back for a re-fill after you have done the work.

By the way, I am not too far away from you if you need an hand.

I think macafee2 may be referring to the o rings on the intercooler, (sorry if I misunderstood) yes! Fit new ones while you are in there. Once you have gone in that far, it would be foolish not to. Also when you buy the condenser, buy new o rings for the condenser.

In photographs, it looks scarier than it really is. It doesn't take too long to make your car look like a write off lol

Hi,when I bought a new condenser it had new o rings with it,remember to smear the o rings with the appropriate oil prior to fitting.Regards Ry.......
