Default Strange loss of power/stalling...

Bit of an odd one and can't seem to fathom it out!

My V6, only today, has lost power whilst I've been driving and then all of a sudden, it kicks back in etc... It's a hesitant feeling and then it seems to kick back into life! If you press the loud pedal when it happens, nothing happens really, it's like the revs are there, but no power etc... does that make sense?!

It seems to do it in any gear and has done it 3 times, the last time 5mins ago as I was just pulling into our cul de sac and the car eventually stalled; the other times I dropped a gear or 3 and it started running fine again! It started fine after it'd stalled, no issues there

Filter has, in the last few days, been checked, tightened back up properly and the FOC fitted, pump is fine and it primes properly etc...

Any other suggestions as this isn't a good thing to be happening and the next time I could be half way up the motorway and needing recovering etc!

Cheers

The 'and checked' always raises a flag for me, having gone through the check, retighten and FOC routine myself - only to find the rubber seal was damaged in the process. So, my advice is never be tempted to check the filter innards. Just tighten and FOC it. If you didn't actually open it up, perhaps the seal could have shimmied or snapped. Your symptoms do fit those of early stage FFS.

Is this the thin black seal inside the filter, or the one around the filter/in the tank neck?

I tightened/clocked the filter back into place and fitted the clip; then put it back into the tank etc... Didn't take it apart etc

However, I'll order the seal and take it from there... Again!

If I'm doing this, is it worth replacing the filter as well?

If so, does anyone have a link to this?

Cheers

Cheers; found it before so saved into my watch list!

Going to try sorting the seal first and will take from there

Yes, the thin oring. I opened my filter to 'check' inside, but that caused the ring to move, so even with the orange clip in place, it still wouldn't start.

That's the best way IMO.

The old filter will be fine. New ones might have a feel good factor, but are pretty expensive and won't perform any better. Like the old one, it will turn as black as soot in a year. But you do get the oring.

Spot on diagnosos squire... I'd obviously disturbed the large O ring when I'd retightened the filter and it'd slipped off and into/around the filter!

It's quite tight, so fairly new I'd say, so refitted it and put it all back together, fingers crossed that's it all sorted. But I've a spare one due tomorrow etc...
