Default CDT fuel pump replacement/upgrade?

Hi All,

(03 CDT Tourer with 160 map)
My in-tank pump failed some time ago and i have been getting by with just the high pressure pump without much issue and no 1/4 tank problems which has been great.
Unfortunately my high pressure pump is beginning to give up by way of a fuel leak from the housing so i'm looking at sorting the problem with just 1 pump.

My current thinking is leave the in-tank pump there but disconnected (less work) and put an inline pump and filter on the underside of the car powered from the feed to the in tank pump. I would then bypass fuel/disconnect the under bonnet pump and go directly into the normal fuel filter.

Has anyone done this before that can advise flowrate/pressure requirements, and will having the under bonnet pump disconnected cause issues?

Thanks

For the sake of how much two pumps cost and how easy it is to replace i'd just do that.

So much easier to fit a new pump in the tank.---
