It could be between a Honda Civic and a Ford Focus and I'd not swop my 75 for either.

The Fords as with Hondas and perhaps most other makes, have an interior that's
uninspiring... any colour you like as long as its black.

Vauxhall, I could not bring myself to have an Astra. My dad had one and I know todays car is light-years away from his but I think of his when I think Astra.
My son had a Corsa, he did not look after it so it ran like a sick donkey but one of those I could over an Astra but if the Fiesta is to small then so would be a Corsa

We had the same concerns re size of the Fiesta. However having lived with them for 9 years now we find them fine 99.9 % of the time. Realistically there is generally only my wife in it, we’ve used it in Europe though on holidays and never had problems. Only last night I helped the lady next door load hers up for a car boot sale (incl a table) and even I was amazed how much she got in.

So unless you have 3 kids, 2 dogs etc I really wouldn’t worry, perhaps we should all start a Fiesta club!

Mrs Roverbarmy has a VW Polo 1.2 petrol which we bought new. We've done everything from shopping to 500 mile motorway trips and the car just amazes me every time I drive it ( I hate to say!). 50+ mpg all the time and the three cylinder has that lovely "triple" growl if you urge it through the gears. Can't fault it and I actually enjoy driving it. They've now stuck a 0ne litre turbo in the new models and I don't like that at all.

ok ok I'll drive a Fiesta.

We looked at a Civic yesterday, some scratches externally and next to the kick plate when you open the door. Also leather seat parting at a seam and what looked like an oil leak on the engine. Discs had a lip, more then I'd except so no way will be buy that. My gut reaction was that the car had had a hard life and not treated well or well cared for. Wife did an MOT history check and 2 or 3 fails, minor things but stuff that TLC would have found

I spent less time choosing my wife

Wife drove a fiesta, its a no no.
Also drove a Focus, this is a possibility, perhaps ahead of the Civic just on looks and running costs but I cant get my head around a car that size having 3 cylinders.

We have 2 legs, use one and its damn hard work to get about by hoping. Use two legs and its so much easier and this is my train of thought with 3 and 4 cylinder cars.

Also 1.0L engine in a focus seems too small, 1.6 seems appropriate

The current Ford 1.0 has the same power output as the old Ford 1.6. It’s simply progress. I had use of a VW Up! for a time while I was selling it for a friend. After driving it the 75 felt heavy, slow and cumbersome.

I’d not hesitate at a modern 3 cylinder. Can’t afford one though and I love my Rover! One for the future, unless by then electric cars make more sense.

Have you looked at Toyota yet...a Yaris, or an auris?
Don’t know much about them mind.
Took Mam out to look at both, as she’s thinking of moving on from her 2004 Corolla.
The Yaris is a small car, but as she says, big enough for her. The auris, a bit bigger.
I felt a bit bemused when I looked under the bonnet, at a tiny little engine that I could hardly hear running.😬
She didn’t purchase one though. I reckon she’ll go for a 1.6 diesel Avensis, as the one she seen “is a nice colour”.
Couldn’t blame her....it is!
It’s a beautiful mettallic blue colour.

Amazing really, far quicker than RS2000's of old. Even the wonderful 3.0 V6 Capri only had 134bhp in standard form.

1600 is a cracker. and actually it's not a bad place to be. Ok, so it's modern but I like it. Smashing car to drive. Had a manual 02 a few years back and that was very good but this one is a lovely car to drive. Auto box is good and enough toys to be practical but not over the top.
