Windows never left open. As you say, it invalidates comprehensive cover. But there are problems. Used the car an hour ago and the temp inside was over 80. I couldn't touch the wheel for a while. It made me wonder how much bigger the car must have been.

I live in a low, probably a very low crime area except for the brother in law.
End of a cul de sac and cctv may also be a deterrent.
years ago there was a cycle theft in our road

Is any one really going to nick a 56 plate Rover 75?

I would not leave them open in a public area.

If only the 75 convertible had made it past the 'wishing' stage....

While I still love the 75, my current car is a convertible, so I just put the roof down as I approach the car.

I opened the door, started the engine, switched on the aircon, and stood outside the car for a couple of minutes before getting in.

It's not so much the nicking of it. I had a '64 Sunbeam Alpine 3 soft top some years ago and parked up at the seaside at Carbis Bay (Cornwall). Left the top down to attend to daughter no. 2 and forgot to put the top up. When we came back there had been some unauthorised deposits made on the front seat and it wasn't seagulls. Celia was not happy. The seat was removed for forceful mechanical cleaning at a garage, and clinical refreshment, and a tarpaulin obtained from a local DIY store. She still had, well, a pained expression all the way home.

bl52krz "The silver sheets that you can get for the windscreen are excellent.Mount them on the OUTSIDE not the inside of the windscreen. If mounted on the inside all they do is protect your upholstery from the direct heat from the sun. They don’t keep your car cool because the heat coming through the window is trapped by the glass, and kept inside. They will not keep your car cool. Just try it and tell me I am wrong".

Hi, I made up this set of reflectors to deflect the sunlight.
Went to my local auto shop and purchased 3 windscreen sunlight reflectors, about £1.50 each, cut one to shape to suit the two door windows.
Got a set of plastic suckers off the bay along with a tool to punch holes and
rings thru the plastic. Wife hemmed the edges with tape.
A proper "Blue Peter" job. Here's one we made earlier
P.S These can be fitted on the inside or outside, as you wish.
Kev

Have you tried them on the outside? I suppose to do so, you have to be parked on your drive, or 200 yards from a road, otherwise they would probably disappear. The difference is very noticeable.

Not yet tried them on the outside, the main reason I made them was to protect the interior from sunlight damage, as the car is parked in direct sunlight, due to the front of the house being easterly facing.
Kev.
