No worries! It is always handy for any diesel owner to keep a spare matching ews, ecu and transponder at home just in case the worst ever happens. Makes the car mobile so it can go to someone to fix it

The ecu, ews and receiver and key all came from a 2004 rover 75 auto diesel. The ecu ends in 340. When I put all 3 boxes in, the furthest I get is the instrument cluster lights up with key in but nothing when I turn the key. This is with my key in the supplied fob.
If I replace the receiver with the original receiver and leave everything else the same then the fob does the remote central locking. If I then replace the ews with the original also so only new part is the ecu from the 2004 auto diesel the car will crank but not start. The pump under the bonnet is now sounding like it has a wasp in it when turning the ignition on |

Great to see that it is now running. Just deleted my last post as this news renders it largely irrelevant. Having said that, does the fob now lock and unlock the car?

Well Niall, that was efficiently solved and it didn't cost you 300 euros!

Ok, just to be sure you have swapped the PCB over from your replacement key into your original key with the now working transponder chip which you have also swapped over? Everything from inside the replacement key needs to be swapped over to your original key. Also, the BCU which is now in the car is it the replacement which you have also swapped into the car which will be matched to the replacement PCB? If so then a battery reset might resolve the problem and if not then maybe a resync of the key might do so. The procedures are given on this thread here. Click
Might also be worth considering the state of the battery inside the key fob. |
