However in saying that when i do see a passing Rover 75 its always a tourer which is odd
The problem is I think they are being used as posh vans or handy for walking the dogs because they are so cheap at the moment.

I was waiting outside the post office recently and a guy pulled up in a scruffy 75 Tourer, as his window was open I said hello and asked him about his car, he new nothing about it other than ''it was handy for lugging stuff about'' I glanced in the back and it had ladders and some small tool boxes. He reckoned he had another one on his drive that was a ''scrapper''.

I know when they go through the local car auction they often go for a low price and some don't even get a bid if they look scruffy with hardly any MOT left. There was a minter going through before lock down that I was tempted to take a bid on but with an engine management light on I decided to save my money, a couple of people bid it up to £800.

I have the following information for these cars.

N269 FYA - ‘UNKNOWN UNKNOWN’ Registered 1.6.1999, 2497cc, engine number 25K4FL10116116, VIN - SPL2410AR41SDVH23 scrapped 23.4.2001

X541 JOH - ‘UNKNOWN UNKNOWN’ Registered 18.9.2000, 2497cc, engine number 25K4FM47147254 - scrapped 30.9.2010

W226 JPA - Rover 75 Classic 4dr Saloon - Silver - Registered 20.3.2000, engine number 18K4FK516014802, VIN - SARRJHLPBYM161261 - scrapped 20.5.2013

W471 CJW - Rover 75 Club SE 2.5 4dr Saloon - Green - Registered 22.3.2000, engine number 25K4FM470147256, VIN - SARRJHLPBYM159325

Whilst searching for these, I’ve found there was a ‘sister’ car to X541 JOH - X542 JOH. What this was used for I don’t know but it’s a 2.5 Tourer in Silver so it may have been the second 4x4 mule? If this is already known then apologies in advance.

X542 JOH - Rover 75 Tourer - 2497cc - Silver - Registered 18.9.2000, engine number 25K4FM48152951, VIN - SPL2593R41PL22J28. No scrap marker.

Unfortunately I’m not at liberty to divulge how I managed to get this information as the program I use isn’t widely available to the public at this time.

I hope this will be able to help fill in the blanks of some cars, I would have loved to have rescued X541 JOH before it was squashed.

Cheers.

We have Y415TOL featured in Autocar mag when it was new.
(Copperleaf)

We also just sold Y957OEL diesel Auto (Royal Blue) been in the family 12 years, and just gone to it's new owner in Isle of Man

Unknown - X541 JOH 4WD prototype (Not on DVLA database assume scrapped.)
As a technical prototype, it may have been taken by BMW. One of the main reasons they bought MGR was to obtain knowledge & experience of of front and 4WD.

Default Early Tourers...

A rare Tourer morning for me, firstly I went to my local tip this morning with the V6 Black Tourer . I followed around it a very nice Y reg , then I was at the cemetery and Laurie with his Orange Grove Tourer pulled up behind me.
